Ratings for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Climate Change Project for Uruguay were as follows: outcome was satisfactory, Bank performance was moderately satisfactory, and monitoring and evaluation (M and E) quality was substantial. Some lessons learned included: bringing well-organized and managed, data-rich, and best practice information systems like national agriculture information system (SNIA) to life requires long-term investment and political commitment. If agro-ecology and green branding are viable ventures, the private sector should drive and sustain them. Transferring incomplete subprojects to a follow-on project has both positive and negative implications. Leveraging digital traceability systems can increase agricultural competitiveness and sustainability. The benefits of Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP’s) institutional commitment to in-house impact evaluation were clearly demonstrated. Findings of the agro-livestock insurance pilot were promising but the instrument needs further refinement.
