An oil-driven recovery in 2022 drove gross domestic product (GDP) to pre-pandemic levels and led to significant fiscal and current account surpluses. The recent exchange rate volatility has led to an uptick in inflation, piling pressure on poor and vulnerable households and young people who are already facing limited job opportunities. Growth is forecast to moderate in the medium term in line with weaker global demand and limited non-oil potential GDP.
